Jill Spall appointed to fill vacated seat on Manassas City School Board

The School Board of the City of Manassas unanimously voted on Oct. 21, 2021, to appoint Jill Spall to serve as its newest member. Spall was appointed to fill the vacant seat previously held by Sanford S. Williams, who resigned effective Oct. 1.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to serve the community by advocating for students and teachers in a responsible and forward-thinking way,” said Spall.

“Mrs. Spall’s commitment to our schools is evident by her involvement for more than 20 years,” said Suzanne Seaberg, school board chair. “We welcome her valuable input and look forward to working with her as we serve the students and families of Manassas City.”

Spall has been a Manassas City resident for 27 years. She and her husband are business owners. Her three children are graduates of Osbourn High School, and since their time as students, she has been involved in the school community in various ways. 

In 2010, she founded the MCPS “Backpack Attack Program” that focused on providing meals for students to take home for the weekend.  She has served as a clerical substitute and volunteer and served on several MCPS advisory boards and committees. 

Spall is a 2017 graduate of the MCPS Parent and Community Leadership Academy (PCLA). She said she desires to continue advocating for the children of the City of Manassas.

“Having grown up here, I have a strong connection to our local community and the time and energy to work for the benefit of our youth.”

Spall will serve on the City’s school board through Dec. 31, 2022, the remainder of Williams’ term.
