Girl, 9, attempts to intervene in altercation that escalates

Abduction | Domestic Related – On September 6 at 1:50AM, √officers responded to a residence located in the 12700 block of Inverness Way in Woodbridge (22192) to
investigate a domestic.

The victim, a 44-year-old woman, reported to police that she and a family member, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim and struck her before holding her on the ground and preventing her from leaving. At one point, according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, a family member, a 9-year-old girl, attempted to intervene when the accused shoved her to the ground.

Eventually the parties separated, and the police were contacted. The adult victim reported minor injuries.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Gesese BITEW, was arrested.
