Inmate at regional jail charged with tossing cup of water on correctional officer

Assault and Battery on a Corrections Officer – On June 28 at 2:56AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Prince William-Manassas Adult Detention Center located at 9320 Lee Ave in Manassas (20110) to investigate an assault on a staff member.

According to a report from Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer, the investigation revealed that at approximately 9:45PM, an inmate of the facility, identified as the accused, was throwing food out of his cell. When the correctional officer approached the cell, the accused threw a cup of water on him. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Ryan David SMITH, was charged, and remained incarcerated.
