Assault and Battey on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] | Indecent Exposure – On May 6 at 4:20AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Sunoco located at 7203 Sudley Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate an indecent exposure. An employee reported to police that while behind the service counter, an unknown man, later identified as the accused, entered the store, and made physical contact with her while exposing himself.
As the employee attempted to separate herself from the accused, he temporarily grabbed the victim before she was able to exit the store. The accused then followed the victim out of the store before walking away, according to MPO Renee Carr, public information officer. The victim did not report any injuries, MPO Carr said.
Later that evening, officers located the accused a short distance away and detained him. As officers were escorting the accused to a police vehicle, he actively resisted and refused to follow officer’s commands. After a brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody without further incident. During the encounter, the accused kicked an officer. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Joseph Alexander SIMMONS, was arrested.

Charged with assault & battery on LEO, attempted abduction, indecent exposure, assault & battery, obstruction of justice and intoxicated in public
