Triangle man charged with attempted rape of Woodbridge woman

MPO Renee Carr, public information officer for Prince William County Police Department, filed this report:

Attempted Rape – On September 6 at 3:52PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 2200 block of Henry Watts Lp. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault.

The victim, a 44-year-old woman, reported to police that she was inside the residence when an acquaintance, identified as the accused, followed her into a room where he prevented her from leaving. During the encounter, the accused attempted to rape the victim. The victim resisted and eventually other occupants of the home heard the struggle and attempted to intervene before contacting the police.

Officers located the parties and detained the accused. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as James Wesley BOLAR, was arrested.
