Dad arrested after attempting to take 3-year-old son from Woodbridge home

MPO Renee Carr, public information officer for the Prince William County Police Department filed this report:

Attempted Malicious Wounding | Brandishing – On September 5 at 8:42PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15300 block of Elizabeth Burbage Lp. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a fight. The investigation revealed that the accused attempted to take his 3-year-old child from the home.

The altercation escalated when the accused retrieved a machete and confronted the child’s mother and her family.

The parties eventually separated, and the accused fled the scene prior to police arrival at the home. No injuries were reported.

Responding officers located the accused a short distance away where he was detained without incident. During the investigation, the accused was determined to not have custody of the child. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Victor Alexander MERRIMAN, was arrested.
