Bar manager confronts out-of-towner for allegedly not paying bill;  patron allegedly kicks officer

MPO Renee Carr, public information officer for Prince William County Police Department, filed this report on Monday, Aug. 24, 2020:

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On August 21 at 11:30PM, officers responded to Bungalow Ale House located at 2840 Prince William Pkwy. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a disorderly.

The restaurant manager reported to police that he followed a patron, later identified as the accused, out of the restaurant for not paying his bill. When the manager confronted the accused, he charged towards the manager and attempted to strike him.

The parties separated and the police were contacted. Upon arrival, officers located the accused and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and was continuing to act disorderly. As officers took the accused into custody, he kicked an officer in the upper body before being re-secured without further incident. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Daniel COPELAND, was arrested.

Daniel COPELAND, 55, of 4848 Lemmon Ave., Dallas, TX
Charged with assault & battery on LEO and attempted assault
Court Date: November 6, 2020 | Bond: $5,000 Secured Bond
