Police charge Woodbridge man with murder stemming from July 24 parking lot stabbing

First Sgt. Jonathan Perok, Prince William County Police Department’s public information officer, issued the following report:

UPDATE #3

Murder Investigation *ARREST –
On August 14, 2020 detectives with the Homicide Unit arrested the suspect involved in the fatal stabbing of Charlie DAVIS III which occurred in the parking lot of the Babylon Café located at 3081 Golansky Blvd in Woodbridge on July 24.

The investigation revealed that the victim and the accused were involved in a physical altercation in the parking lot of the establishment when the victim was stabbed by the accused. The victim ultimately died from his injuries at an area hospital. The two men were not known to one another. Through the extensive investigation, homicide detectives were able to identify the accused and obtained warrants for his arrest.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Abdur Rahman ROLAND, was located at his home in Woodbridge where he was arrested without incident.

Homicide Investigation *REWARD OFFERED [Previously Released] – The Police Department is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect involved in the murder of Charlie Davis III. The deceased was killed following an altercation at the Babylon Café located at 3081 Golansky Blvd in Woodbridge (22192) during the early morning hours of on July 24. Detectives continue to seek assistance from any witnesses to the encounter. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.

Homicide Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED [Previously Released] – Detectives with the Homicide Unit have identified the man killed during an early morning altercation that occurred at the Babylon Café located at 3081 Golansky Blvd in Woodbridge (22192) on July 24. The deceased was identified as Charlie DAVIS III, 28, of Dumfries. Detectives continue to seek assistance from any witnesses to the encounter. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.


Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On July 24 at 2:13AM, officers responded to the Babylon Café located at 3081 Golansky Blvd in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a stabbing. When officers arrived, they located a 28-year-old man suffering from stab wounds. Officers utilized Department issued trauma kits to render first aid to the man and performed CPR until rescue personnel arrived at the scene. The man was transported to an area hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries. The preliminary investigation into the incident revealed that after closing, a large fight broke out in the parking lot of the business. During the fight, the stabbing occurred before parties dispersed. No arrests have been made at this time. Detectives with the Violent Crimes Bureau are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up to the stabbing and are seeking to speak with anyone who was present during the altercation who can provide more details as to what occurred. The identity of the deceased will be released upon notification of a next-of-kin. More information will be released as it becomes available. The investigation continues.
