Suspect arrested in July 14 Lake Ridge homicide

Murder Investigation *ARREST – Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department’s Homicide Unit, on Aug. 14, 2020, arrested the suspect involved in the murder of Micah Antonio MUTZ which occurred near Valleywood Dr. and Colebrook Ln. in Woodbridge on July 14.

The accused was determined to be the second man shot during the encounter.

The investigation revealed that the two men were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated when the accused shot the victim. The victim ultimately died from his injuries at an area hospital. During the same encounter, the accused was also shot. The two men were known to one another.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Carlos Ernesto PEREZ TRUJILLO, was arrested.

Homicide Investigation *VICTIM IDENTIFIED [Previously Released] – Detectives with the Homicide Unit have identified the victim killed in the evening shooting that occurred near Valleywood Dr. and Colebrook Ln. in Woodbridge (22192) on July 14. The deceased was identified as Micah Antonio MUTZ, 19, of Woodbridge. The second man reported with gunshot injuries is expected to recover. More information will be released when available. The investigation continues.

Homicide Investigation [Previously Released] – On July 14 at 10:15PM, officers responded to Valleywood Dr. and Colebrook Ln. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. A male victim was located nearby on Oakwood Dr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers utilized issued trauma kits and initiated CPR until rescue personnel arrived on scene. The man, preliminarily identified as a 19-year-old, was transported to an area hospital where he later died. While investigating the shooting, an additional man arrived at an area hospital, also suffering from gunshot injuries.  Detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau are actively investigating the incident to determine what led up to the shooting. At this point, this incident appears to be isolated to the above intersection. This incident does not appear to be random.  More information will be released when available.
