Two arrested after separate interactions with residents at their Woodbridge apartments

Malicious Wounding – On August 5 at 8:57AM, officers responded to investigate an assault that was reported to have occurred at the Dale Forest Apartments located in the 14300 block of Westminister Ln. in Woodbridge (22193) earlier that day.

The victim, a 26-year-old woman, reported to police that she and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim several times before fleeing the apartment. A family member took the victim to a local hospital where police were contacted.

During the investigation, the accused was located on a separate call and detained without incident. The victim reported serious injuries. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Joshua Gerard SIMS, who was arrested later in the day.

Residential Burglary – On August 8 at 2:19AM, officers responded to the County Center Crossing Apartments located in the 13000 block of Patamon Way in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a suspicious person.

A resident reported to police that an unknown man, later identified as the accused, was observed sitting outside of the door eating off a plate that was taken from inside the apartment. The resident confronted the man about the plate before going inside the apartment and securing the door.

At one point, the accused forced his way back into the apartment. During the encounter, the accused pushed a resident, identified as a 46-year-old man, before grabbing his keys and fleeing on foot. Minor injuries were reported. While investigating, officers were able to identify the accused who was subsequently located at his residence in Woodbridge and detained without incident. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Gabriel BENITEZ, was arrested.
