Police investigate suspicious graffiti at Lake Ridge Middle School

Threats of Bodily Harm | Malicious Wounding *ADDITIONAL INCIDENT – On July 22 at 7:32AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14400 block of Brentwood Ct. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate threatening messages. The victim, a 29-year-old woman, reported to police that an acquaintance, identified as the accused, sent various types of messages threatening her life and her home. The accused is currently wanted for his connection to a malicious wounding that occurred at the same residence on July 4 after a verbal altercation escalated involving a 40-year-old man who also resides at the home. Following the investigation, officers obtained additional arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Nathaniel Bernard HINES. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Described as a black male, 5’9”, 150lbs. with black hair and brown eyes
Wanted for malicious wounding, driving on a revoked license, threats of bodily harm and threats over public airway

Malicious Wounding [Previously Released] – On July 4 at 6:19PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 14400 block of Brentwood Ct. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 40-year-old man, was struck in the head with a metal chair by an acquaintance, identified as the accused. After striking the victim, the accused fled the scene in a grey van. The victim was rendered temporarily unconscious and was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. While investigating, officers determined that the accused does not possess a valid driver’s license. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Nathaniel Bernard HINES. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

INCIDENTS
Suspicious Incident – On July 23 at 2:00PM, Prince William County Police officers were notified of suspicious graffiti on a sign at Lake Ridge Middle School located at 12350 Mohican Rd. in Woodbridge (22192) that was discovered earlier that day. The investigation revealed that school personnel observed a sign near the tennis courts with words and images drawn on it to include a swastika symbol. The graffiti did not appear to target anyone specific at the school and no threats was made. At this time, it is unknown when the vandalism occurred. The sign was taken down.

Attempted Residential Burglary – On July 23 at 6:37PM, officers responded to the Riverwoods Apartments located in the 2700 block of Dettingen Pl. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an attempted burglary. A resident reported to police that entry was attempted into her apartment sometime earlier that day through the sliding glass door which was found damaged. No entry appears to have been made into the home and no property was reported missing.

ARRESTS
Carjacking | Strangulation – On July 23 at 1:39PM, officers responded to the 16900 block of Old Stage Rd. in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a carjacking. The victim, a 31-year-old woman, reported to police that she drove an acquaintance, identified as the accused, to the above area where he forcefully took her vehicle. The investigation revealed that a verbal altercation escalated while both parties were still inside the vehicle.

During the encounter, the accused put his arm around the victim’s throat before she was able to get out of the vehicle. The accused then fled in the vehicle before the victim contacted the police. While canvassing the area, officers located the accused nearby and took him into custody without incident. Officers also located the vehicle in a parking lot of a nearby business. The victim reported minor injuries.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Ryan David SMITH, was arrested. While processing the accused, detectives learned the accused was wanted on active warrants.
