PWC Police news for June 3: Arrest made in hit and run crash; second suspect sought

Prince William County (PWC) police arrested Maria Teresa Kathrina NININGER in connection with a hit and run crash on May 26, 2020, according to MPO Renee Carr, police department representative. The crash was reported to have occurred at the intersection of Dumfries Rd.  (VA 234) and Bristow Rd. in Manassas (20112). This is near the PWC Animal Shelter.

Nininger, 49, of no fixed address, was arrested on June 2, 2020 and charged with felony hit & run, DUID maiming, possession of a controlled substance, driving on a revoked license—2nd offense and altered license plates. Court Date is pending and bond information was not available in the police report, Off. Carr said.

Police attempts to locate a second suspect have been unsuccessful, Carr. The suspect has been identified as Michael Curtis OTT, 44, of no fixed address. The police report describes Ott as a white man, 6’00”, 220lbs., with brown hair and eyes, He is wanted for possession of a controlled substance and allowing an unlicensed driver to drive.

Hit & Run Crash Investigation [Previously Released] – On May 26 at 4:48PM, investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to the intersection of Dumfries Rd. and Bristow Rd. in Manassas (20112) to investigate a crash. The investigation revealed that the operator of a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche failed to stop at the red signal on Bristow Rd. before proceeding to turn right onto southbound Dumfries Rd. As a result, the vehicle crossed paths with a 2006 Acura MDX that was traveling on Dumfries Rd. in the same direction. The impact from the collision caused both vehicles to leave the roadway. After the crash, the driver of the Chevrolet, later identified as Maria Teresa Kathrina NININGER, fled the scene on foot prior to police arriving in the area. The driver and three passengers, all 17 years of age, who were inside the Acura were transported to area hospitals with varying non-life threatening injuries. An adult passenger inside the Chevrolet, identified as Michael Curtis OTT, was flown to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators located suspected illegal narcotics inside the vehicle which was also found to have altered tags. The investigation further determined that NININGER was under the influence of narcotics at the time of the collision. Following the investigation, investigators obtained arrest warrants for NININGER in connection to the crash and for driving without a license. Investigators also obtained warrants for OTT, in connection to the narcotics located in the vehicle and for allowing the driver to operate the vehicle without a valid license. Attempts to locate both suspects have been unsuccessful.

Incidents: Shooting into Occupied Dwellings - Five Houses struck by projectiles
Residents in the area of Georgetown Rd. and Geddy Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) reported hearing gunshots on Tuesday evening, June 2. Prince William County police officers responded to the call at 7:50 p.m., according to the police report.

MPO Renee Carr said that the investigating officers identified five residences in the 2800 block of Gloucester Ct. that sustained damage from being struck with projectiles, but no injuries were reported.

Officers and a police K-9 searched the area for the suspects who were not located. While canvassing, officers also located an unoccupied vehicle with damage from being struck by a projectile. The investigation continues.
