Assault victim loses consciousness; police seek suspect

Malicious Wounding – On Friday, May 22, 2020 at 7:22PM, Prince William County police officers responded to a residence located in the 2900 block of Wetherburn Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault.

The victim, a 20-year-old woman, reported to police that she and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim, knocking her to the ground. Once on the ground the accused kicked the victim in the head against the floor which caused her to lose consciousness. When the victim regained consciousness, she left the home and went to a nearby location where police were contacted, according to First Sgt. Jonathan Perok, police department representative.

Perok said the victim reported minor injuries and was treated at the scene. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Juan Diego FERNANDEZ. Attempts to locate the accused were unsuccessful.
