Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On March 28 at 6:14PM, officers responded to the area of Dale Blvd. and I-95 in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic occurring in a vehicle.
Officers located the vehicle and observed the driver unable to maintain the lane. Officers stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as the accused, who was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and suspected illegal narcotics. The accused was transported to an area hospital for further processing and evaluation.
While at the hospital, the accused attempted to flee from officers. During the struggle, the accused struck an officer multiple times before being taken into custody without further incident. A door in the hospital was damaged from the encounter. Minor injuries were reported by the accused.
The accused was also determined to be driving on a revoked driver’s license. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as James Jefferson MARSHALL III, was arrested.

Charged with assault and battery on LEO, DUI, felony destruction of property, obstruction of justice and driving on revoked license
