Teen charged with brandishing, possessing a weapon at Manassas Mall

Brandishing | Possession of a Firearm by a Minor – On Feb. 17 at 8 p.m., Prince William County police officers responded to the Manassas Mall located at 8300 Sudley Rd. in Manassas (20109) to investigate a brandishing.

The victims, a 31-year-old male and a 31-year-old female, reported to police that an unknown teenaged male, later identified as the accused, brandished a firearm at them after a verbal altercation.

The investigation revealed that the accused and three other unknown females threw food at the victims while all parties were seated in the food court area. A verbal altercation ensued between the groups before the accused approached the victims at their table.

During the encounter, the accused lifted his shirt, brandishing a firearm that was concealed in his waistband. The victims separated from the accused and contacted the police.

Responding officers made contact with the accused, who fled from officers and exited the mall after abandoning a puppy he was carrying. The puppy was not injured

During the foot pursuit, the accused tossed the firearm in the mall parking lot and attempted to hide behind the vehicle. Officers located the accused and took him into custody without further incident. The firearm was located in the parking lot and collected by officers.

The three females who were with the accused were detained and charged by officers with possession of marijuana.

A fully loaded magazine and suspected marijuana were located in the suspect’s vehicle. Following the investigation, the suspect, identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile, was charged.
