Gar-Field teen charged with taking knife to school

Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds – On January 29, the School Resource Officer (SRO) at Gar-Field High School, located at 14000 Smoketown Rd. in Woodbridge (22192), was notified about a student who was in possession of a weapon on school grounds.

The investigation revealed that while the student was meeting with his probation officer on school property, he was in possession of a knife, suspected marijuana and a suspected controlled substance. The SRO took possession of the items and the student was taken into custody without incident. The weapon was not brandished and there were no threats made to anyone. Following the investigation, the SRO charged the student, identified as a 16-year-old male juvenile.
