Zoree Jones, a rising senior at Patriot High School, received first place in the nation for public speaking at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) National Leadership Competition.
The event was held June 29-July 2, 2019, in San Antonio, Texas.
Zoree competed against more than 100 other public speaking category finalists from the U.S. and abroad.
The FBLA National Awards Program recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. FBLA competitive events also prepare students for successful careers in business by providing opportunities to apply classroom concepts in a workforce-simulated competitive environment. Students qualify by competing at state leadership conferences in events testing their business knowledge and skills, according to a news release from Prince William County Schools.
Zoree has also won a Junior Achievement of Greater Washington Essay Competition Award and is a multiple winner in the annual PWC Martin Luther King Jr. Oratorical Contest, among other achievements.
