Special Victims Unit probes sexual assault of 7-year-old

Sexual Assault Investigation – On June 26, detectives with the Special Victims Unit, in conjunction with Child Protective Services, began an investigation into a sexual assault that occurred at a residence located in the Woodbridge (22191) area of Prince William County sometime between June 1, 2018 and June 26, 2019, according to Off. Renee Carr, police department spokesman.

Off. Carr said the department’s investigation revealed the victim, a 7-year-old girl at the time of the offense, was sexually assaulted by a family member, later identified as the accused. The victim recently disclosed the encounter prompting the police investigation.
Following the investigation, on July 3, the accused, identified as Jose Candido LOPEZ MARTINEZ, was arrested.

Jose Candido LOPEZ MARTINEZ, 48, of 14132 Grayson Rd. in Woodbridge
Charged with indecent liberties of a child by a custodian and object sexual penetration
