Novant Health UVA Health System has named Al Pilong, Jr. senior vice president and CEO. Pilong, who is coming from Michigan and previously Winchester, VA, will begin his new role on April 1, according to a news release.
“Al has a proven track record in executive-level oversight of the operational, financial and strategic activities for a number of medical centers and health systems,” Jeff Lindsay, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Novant Health, was quoted as saying in the news release. “... I am confident he will lead the organization forward in the years to come,” Lindsay added.
Pilong will be joining Novant Health UVA Health System from Munson Healthcare in Traverse City, Michigan where he most recently was president of Munson Medical Center and chief operating officer of Munson Healthcare. During his time with Munson Healthcare, Pilong led the organization to receive an “A” Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a magnet designation for nursing for the third time and accreditation as a Blue Distinction Center for cardiac care, maternity care, and knee and hip replacement, among other awards and recognitions.
Previously, Pilong was the president of Winchester Medical Center and senior vice president of Valley Health in Winchester, VA, the release said.
