Three suspicious car fires in Manassas being investigated as possible arsons

On January 28, 2019 at approximately 12:17 p.m., an officer from the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 10000 block of Hendley Rd for a report of a possible arson. The investigation revealed the vehicle, a 2016 Honda CRV, sustained damage to the interior as a result of a fire that had originated in the cargo area of the vehicle. The incident is believed to have occurred between January 24 and January 27.

On January 30, 2019 at approximately 3:04 p.m., an officer of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the 8900 block of Nicol Ln for a report of a possible arson. Through investigation it was determined that two of the victim’s vehicles, a 2004 Kia Spectra and a 1999 Ford Windstar, had sustained interior damage due to fires being set within the vehicles.

There were no signs of forced entry to any of the vehicles and all fires self-extinguished. These cases were transferred to the Manassas City Fire Department’s Fire Marshal’s Office for further investigation.
