Police report man shoots self in leg in Gainesville; gun pulled in Potomac Mills store

**ARRESTS**
Reckless Handling of a Firearm –
On December 15 at 2:03AM, Prince William County Police Department officers responded to the area of Paper Birch Ln and Crimson Crossing Way in Gainesville to investigate a shooting. The caller reported to police that an unknown male was in the street yelling that he had been shot.

When officers arrived, they located the male and determined that he had a gunshot wound to the leg. The male refused to cooperate with officers and was eventually transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Upon further investigation, officers determined that the male had been rummaging through unlocked vehicles in the area when he located a handgun inside of an unlocked vehicle. At some point, the accused accidentally discharged the handgun–shooting himself in the leg.

Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Rory Phillip BRYAN, who was arrested once he was released from the hospital. The handgun was eventually located by an officer in a storm drain in the area of Paper Birch Ln and Crimson Crossing Way.

Brandishing a Firearm – On December 14 at 10:15AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Nike Clearance Store located inside of Potomac Mills Mall at 2700 Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a fight.

The investigation revealed that two men were involved in a verbal altercation inside of the store, which escalated physically. During the encounter, one of the men displayed a handgun after he was pushed by the other male. Store staff immediately contacted police who arrived and detained the men without incident. Following the investigation, the men, identified as Luke A HUGGINS and Edwin Kang YI, were charged and released on court summons. The handgun was seized as evidence.

Malicious Wounding – On December 14 at 8:59AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 100 block of Prince William Cir in the Town of Dumfries (22026) to investigate a domestic. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 31-year-old woman, and the accused, an acquaintance, were in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused struck the victim multiple times in the face. The parties eventually separated, and the police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported.

Following the investigation, officers arrested the accused, identified as Ronald Dennis GORDON, Jr. When officers attempted to place the accused in the back of a police cruiser, he resisted. The accused complied without further incident after officers deployed pepper spray.

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On December 16 at 11:31PM, officers were proactively patrolling in the area of Fraley Blvd and Graham Park Rd in the Town of Dumfries (22026) when they observed several disorderly juveniles in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven.

An officer made contact with the juveniles and determined that one of the juvenile, identified as a 17-year-old male, had been reported as missing and was intoxicated. When officers attempted to detain him, he resisted and attempted to flee on foot. The juvenile was eventually detained following a brief foot pursuit. Minor injuries were reported.

While officers were at the Gar-Field Station attempting to identify and locate the juvenile’s parents, he struck an officer in the leg. No injuries were reported by the officer. Following the investigation, the accused was charged.
