Manassas schools in Fairview Ave.-Signal Hill area put on temporary lockdown, since lifted

On Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at approximately 1:51 p.m., officers of the Manassas City Police Department responded to the area of Signal Hill Rd and Fairview Ave for a report of shots fired.
A witness reported to police that he/she observed a subject discharging a firearm from a moving vehicle. There have been no reported injuries or property damage in connection with this incident.
As a precaution, Sarah Maroney, Crime Prevention Specialist/Public Information Officer for Manassas Police Dept., said schools in the area were placed on a “secure the building” status which the police officer said “has since been lifted, and the suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.” The investigation is on-going, Maroney added.
