Body transported to medical examiner after discovery in Manassas wooded area

Death Investigation – On July 22 at 4:52PM, Prince William County police officers responded to investigate a body that was located in the 7700 block of Coppermine Dr in Manassas (20109). The caller contacted police after discovering the body in a wooded area while walking back from an area park. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Manassas for an autopsy and further analysis to determine the cause of death. At this time, there is no public threat or need for concern, according to Sgt. Jonathan Perok, police department spokesman. More information will be released when available and the investigation continues, Perok said.

The victim was identified as James Eugene HARVEY, 33, of Manassas

Abduction | Assault & Battery – On July 20 at 6:49PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 11200 block of Chatterly Loop in Manassas (20109) to investigate an assault. The victim, a 40-year-old woman, reported to police that she was sitting on her balcony when she witnessed an unknown man, later identified as the accused, in the parking lot screaming for help. The victim left her apartment and approached the accused to provide assistance. The accused directed the victim to his apartment claiming he needed help with his infant child. The victim followed the accused to his apartment where he proceeded to deadbolt the door. The accused was acting irrational and appeared under the influence of narcotics. The victim attempted to disengage the deadbolt and was stopped by the accused. Eventually, the child’s mother returned to the apartment and the accused pushed the victim outside, causing her to fall. The accused then left the home. The infant child was in the apartment at the time and was unharmed. The victim sustained a minor injury from the fall. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Cameron Garret LEFEAR. Attempts to locate the accused were unsuccessful.
