Gas explosion destroys home in Haymarket Oct. 15; no one was injured

The single-family dwelling involved in the Piedmont subdivision incident was totally destroyed. Two unrelated families,  consisting of four adults and two children. resided in the residence, according to Matt Smolsky, Prince William County Fire Marshal. He said that the Red Cross responded to assist the families. No injuries were reported, Smolsky said.

Homes in the immediate vicinity were allowed to be reoccupied last night after having their electrical service restored.  A total of eight(8) homes in the immediate vicinity will have their natural gas service disrupted for up to two days. Several vehicles were also damaged from flying debris, according to the Fire Marshal.

The next update for this incident will be Oct. 16, 2024 at approximately noon, according to the Fire Marshal.
