Fire # 1:Townhouse fire in Lake Ridge Friday afternoon June 7, 2024
On Friday, June 7, 2024, the last day of school for the 2023-24 school year, Prince William County Fire & Rescue units were dispatched at 3:31 p.m. to the 12600 block of Dulcinea Place in Lake Ridge for reports of a townhouse fire.
Assistant Fire Chief/Fire Marshal Matt Smolsky said heavy fire was showing and one occupant was safely out of the building, when the emergency crews arrived on the scene.
Smolsky said fire attack quickly brought the blaze under control, but “the home sustained extensive damage and was determined to be unsafe to occupy by the Building Official.” The Fire Marshal’s Office determined the cause of the fire was combustible materials left to close to the burning stovetop.
According to the fire official, the adjoining townhomes were not significantly impacted. He said the lone occupant, who was home at the time of the fire, was transported to a nearby medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries. Two adults and one child were displaced by the incident.
Fire #2 - Townhouse fire in Sudley early this morning - June 8, 2024
Less than 12 hours later at 12:55 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2024, Prince William County fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 7600 block of Monitor Ct. in the Sudley area of Manassas for a report of a townhouse on fire.
Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Matt Smolsky reported that arriving crews observed a working fire on the back of the home and that all occupants had safely evacuated. Smolsky said, “Fire attack controlled the fire within a few minutes. The home sustained moderate damage and was determined to be unsafe to occupy by the Building Official. “
According to the fire official, one of the townhouse’s occupants, an adult female, was transported to a nearby medical facility with a non-life-threatening injury. He said the Red Cross is assisting the four adult occupants displaced by the fire.
Smolsky said the Fire Marshal’s office determined the fire’s area of origin to be on the rear side of the home, but the actual cause is still being determined.
Fire #3 - Bull Run Mountain garage fire spotted by passerby early June 8, 2024
Then, about three hours later, Prince William County fire and rescue units were dispatched at 3:57 a.m. this morning, Saturday, June 8, 2024 to the 4500 block of Logmill Road in Haymarket after a passerby reported seeing a garage on fire.
Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal Matt Smolskysaid the detached garage was fully involved in flames when the emergency crews arrived on the scene.
Exterior fire attack quickly controlled the fire, and no injuries were reported, according to the fire official. At 8:18 a.m. staff of the Fire Marshal’s Office was still on the Logmill Road scene determining the cause of the garage fire, Smolsky said.
