PWC Police report May. 22, 2024: Man shoots himself in foot—literally—in Woodbridge

INCIDENTS
• Reckless Handling of a Firearm –
On Saturday, May 18, 2024 at 4:30AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the area of the Prince William Pkwy near Marblestone Dr. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed a man, later identified as the accused, was lying on a public bench when he fired a round from a handgun, striking his foot.
The accused was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No additional injuries or property damage were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Malikh Christian JAMISON. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Described as a black male, approximately 5’7”, 200lbs., with black hair
Wanted for reckless handling of a firearm and carrying a concealed firearm

• Aggravated Assault – On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 9:47AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the area of Minnieville Rd. near Dale Blvd. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault.
The investigation revealed the victim, a 32-year-old woman, was walking in the above area when she was struck in the head with a glass bottle. A green pickup truck was seen driving down the roadway just after the victim was struck. The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No further suspect description is available.

• Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at 11:17PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15100 block of Illinois Rd. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. The investigation revealed a round entered the home and was found on the floor. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.

ARRESTS
• Felony Child Neglect | Brandishing of a Weapon –
On Sunday, May 19, 2024 at 6:57PM, Prince William County police officers responded to the area of Old Delaney Rd. near Quate Ln. in the Dale City area of Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a brandishing. The investigation revealed the victim, a 19-year-old man, was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of another vehicle, later identified as the accused.

While both vehicles were stopped on Old Delaney Rd., the victim approached the other vehicle, where the accused brandished a machete-style knife before driving out of the area. Officers located the accused at a nearby residence where he was determined to be intoxicated.

Further investigation revealed a 2-year-old girl was in the vehicle with the accused at the time of the encounter. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Douglas Ernesto BENAVIDES, was arrested.

Charged with felony child neglect, brandishing of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, DUI, and driving on revoked license
Court Date: July 18, 2024 | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond
