Bob’s Discount Furniture opens store in Manassas

Bob’s Discount Furniture held a grand opening of its 171th store now located in Manassas, with a 9 a.m. ribbon cutting on Friday, Dec. 8, at 7673 Sudley Rd, Manassas, VA 20109, in the shopping center next to Burlington Coat Factory.

Attending dignitaries who welcomed Bob’s Discount Furniture to the local area included Manassas Mayor Michelle Davis-Younger, Manassas City Treasurer Patricia Richie-Folks, Manassas City Council Member Sonia Vasquez Luna, Dr. Kevin Newman, Superintendent of Manassas City Public Schools and Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chair Ann Wheeler.

In connection with the grand opening, Bob’s Discount Furniture made donations to two local organizations. Principal Mike Pflugrath accepted the donation of $2500 to Osbourn High School. Karen Horowitz, Director of Community & Volunteer Engagement, accepted Bob’s Discount Furniture’s donation of $2500 to Northern Virginia Family Service.

The company is based in Manchester, Conn. and has 171 furniture stores located in 24 states. It is the 8th-largest U.S. furniture chain, according to Furniture Today. The company is also recognized by Plant-A Research Group and Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces, America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity, and America’s Greatest Workplaces for Parents and Families.

The news release introducing Bob’s to the community went on to say, “Bob’s is committed to supporting local communities through a variety of charitable giving efforts. Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation has anchored the company’s philanthropic work for more than 20 years. Additionally, the Bob’s Outreach program was created as a separate entity to help schools and children-related charities. In total, Bob’s and its Foundation donate more than $2.75 million to charities through these programs each year.
