Driver killed Dec. 15 after vehicle strikes a tree and catches fire on Purcell Rd.
Fatal Crash Investigation – On Wednesday Dec. 15, 2021 at 2:24AM, investigators with the Prince William County Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 12500 block of Purcell Rd. in Manassas (20112) to investigate a single-vehicle crash.
The investigation revealed that the driver and only occupant of a 2011 Honda Accord was traveling east on Purcell Rd. at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of vehicle and left the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree and caught fire, becoming fully engulfed. Rescue personnel responded and pronounced the driver of the vehicle deceased at the scene.
Due to the fire and condition of the driver, the remains were transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the identity. The investigation continues, according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, Public Information Officer.
