Monarch butterflies whose survival is under constant threat due to dwindling habitats and food supplies have some new friends in Virginia who are eagerly volunteering to shore up the butterflies’ habitats and food supplies, a VDOT press release said.

An automobile accident occurred this morning, Oct. 27, on Mathis Avenue in front of Parkside Middle School in Manassas, according to a report from Prince William County Schools. A medivac helicopter landed on the football field at Parkside in order to transport the victim to the hospital. There was no connection to the school, the PWCS report stated.

On Saturday, Oct. 24 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting, the Virginia Department of Transportation and Norfolk Southern will be closing Balls Ford Road at the railroad crossing west of Prince William Parkway (VA 234) in order to replace the at-grade crossing.

Prince William County Board Chairman Corey Stewart, Supervisor Pete Candland, Supervisor Jeanine Lawson, Delegate Tim Hugo, Delegate Bob Marshall, and Senator Dick Black will be holding a town hall meeting tonight at 7pm at Battlefield High School in Haymarket to show that Prince William County is united in opposition to tolling inside the beltway.

During a recent City Council meeting, the council voted to approve an agreement with Buchanan Partners, one of the largest real estate developers in the Washington, D.C. region, to create a mixed-use development on 40 acres at the City’s Gateway property. The master plan for this site includes retail, office, and hotel space, and 279 upscale housing units.
