On Feb. 22, 2023 at 6:13PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to investigate a potential threat of violence made towards Lake Ridge Middle School, 12350 Mohican Road in Woodbridge (22192), according to Master Police Officer Renee Carr, public information officer. The investigation revealed that an unknown individual, later identified as a student of another school, posted threats directed towards the school over Snapchat.

On Feb. 23, 2023 Prince William County Police Department detectives, charged a 27-year-old man in connection with the Feb. 9 robbery that occurred at the Truist Bank located at 16541 River Ridge Blvd in Woodbridg, VA (22191) on Feb. 9. Forensic evidence collected at the scene of the robbery ultimately led to the suspect’s identity, according to a police report.

n February 15, 2023 after consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, investigators with the Prince William County Police Department's Crash Investigation Unit charged the driver of the 2004 Chevrolet Silverado involved in the fatal crash that occurred in the area of Kapp Valley Way and James Madison Hwy. in Haymarket (20169) on February 6, 2023.

On February 15, 2023, detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Violent Crimes Bureau charged a 58-year-old man in connection with the death of his infant son which stemmed from an incident that occurred at the family’s then-residence located in the 9600 block of Lafayette Ave in Manassas (20109) in November 1984.

Based on information and evidence collected during the investigation, detectives linked the person of interest, identified as a 19-year-old man from Manassas, as being responsible for the shooting death of the victim and malicious injury to a second man that occurred during the altercation. The alleged suspect and the deceased were reportedly known to one another. The investigation revealed the suspect confronted the victim over an owed debt prior to the shooting. Due to the death of the suspect, charges were not obtained in the Manassas homicide investigation; therefore, the identity of the alleged suspect is not being released. At this time, no other individuals are being sought in connection to the incident. The case will be considered closed by exception, death of offender.

On Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023 at 4:08 PM, Prince William fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 13000 block of Redstone Drive (Dale City) for a reported house fire.
Smoke was showing and occupants were out of the structure, according to Matt Smolsky, assistant fire chief and fire marshal. No injuries were reported, Smolsky said.

On Sunday, Jan. 28, 2023 at approximately, 10:30 p.m., Manassas City Police responded to a shots fired call from inside of the 9400 block of West Street, in the City of Manassas, VA (CJ Finz restaurant). Upon arrival police discovered that a subject entered the bathroom and a loud noise, believed to be a gun shot, was heard by patrons.

Crews arrived with the home evacuated and smoke showing. The kitchen fire was quickly confirmed and extinguished. The fire caused moderate damage, according to Assistant Fire Chief Matt Smolsky.
