Ashton Avenue between Crestwood Drive and Lomond Drive in Manassas will be closed to through traffic Wednesday night, Aug. 15 and Thursday night, Aug. 16 from 9 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the following morning. The closing is for Prince William County Service Authority water main work, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Detectives from the PWC Police Department's Homicide Unit confirmed the identity of the victim killed at a residence located in the 8900 block of Rugby Rd in Manassas on August 10. The victim was identified as Terri Jo HILBRAND, 54, of Manassas. The accused, identified as Dale Andrew WOLFE, has been arrested in connection to the death which stemmed from an altercation inside the residence. The accused and the victim were known to one another.

Comcast Business has announced a $1 million plus investment to expand its fiber optic-based network in Manassas. This will reach more than 400 additional businesses and directly benefit hundreds more by making the network more accessible, south of Manassas Battlefield and Interstate 66. The expanded service is "capable of delivering up to 100 Gigabits-per-second (Gbps) of network capacity," according to the Comcast news release.

On July 31 at 5:01 p.m., Prince William County police investigators from the Crash Investigation Unit responded to Sudley Road / Campus Drive intersection at the entrance/exit for Northern Virginia Community College in Manassas (20109) to investigate a single vehicle crash. Five were hurt. The initial investigation revealed that a silver vehicle - attempting to turn onto Sudley Road from Campus Drive - disregarded a stop sign and caused a chain reaction crash, according to the police report.
