On Monday, Oct. 21, The Rose Gaming Resort in Dumfries enjoyed a “soft” opening event that gave the first visitors to take a closer look at the much anticipated gaming location in Dumfries.

Congressman Frank Wolf, whose district includes part of Prince William County-Manassas-Manassas Park area of Virginia, shared his growing concerns about cyber threats from China at a Manassas field hearing of the U.S.-China Security and Economic Review Commission, according to a news release from his Capitol Hill office.

A city of Manassas VA police cruiser struck a townhouse and two vehicles in the vicinity of Grant Avenue and Buckner Road when the police officer lost control of the vehicle enroute to an emergency call on March 23. All parties involved were evaluated at Prince William Hospital and released. The Manassas City fire marshal deemed the house uninhabitable until repairs are made. The townhouse residents were relocated by the American Red Cross. The accident is under investigation.

Art by students in grades K-12 will be on display at Hylton High School in Woodbridge VA on March 24. This will be the 42nd year for the art show.

Teens ages 16-18 who are looking for summer jobs with Prince William County VA Schools and other similar employers should attend a job fair from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 at Stonewall Jackson high School in Manassas or Tuesday, March 27 at Freedom High School in Woodbridge.

Many local residents and picturesque spots had a hand in Independent filmmaker Vianlix Mestey's second film, for Money or Love. The film will have its premier performance June 10 at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA.
