Prince William County's 911 memorial
Prince William County has solicited entries in a design competition to add to its 9-11 memorial- Liberty Memorial at Freedom Park - using four steel beams acquired from the destroyed World Trade Center. The board of supervisors will be making a selection from one of a dozen submissions, from around the country and from both design companies and individuals, according to Tracy Gordon, assistant to the county administrator.

Prince William County VA Police Department's crime report for Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012 includes an armed robbery and a residential burglary.

Manassas VA City Police Department's crime report for Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 includes an early morning Sept. 7 vandalism that involved two males shaking a street sign until it came tumbling down and then throwing it into a neighboring yard. A nearby resident gave the police surveillance footage, and a $1000 reward is being offered for information.
Matthew's Center, a Manassas VA organization whose mission is to enhance the lives of children and families affected by autism, will begin to offer autism services in eastern Prince William County VA this fall, due to a grant from the Potomac Health Foundation, a news release said. These services include educational instruction, afterschool recreation and leisure programs and summer camp.
Volunteers are needed to work from land or from canoes and kayaks in the water on Saturday, Oct. 13 to help with the clean up of trash and debris from the Hooes Run part of the Occoquan Reservoir. The event is being organized by the Prince William (VA) Trails and Streams Coalition.

Classes are still in session at Dale City Elementary School despite a water main break in a part of Dale City VA. School officials have made emergency arrangements for restroom facilities, hand sanitizing and lunch. Prince William County's Jason Grant, director of communications, estimated the water main would be repaired in 6-8 hours.
