The Haymarket Town & Country Garden Club has been busy preparing for its annual Holiday Shoppe which will be held this coming Friday, Nov. 22 from 10 to 5 and Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prince William Fire & Rescue Station 15 Community Hall on US Rte. 15 in Haymarket.
Cadet Samantha Reed of Manassas became regimental commander of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets during a Pass in Review - Change of Command ceremony May 2. Reed is a junior majoring in meteorology in the College of Natural Resources and Environment.

In March of this year the state Board of Education voted to allow elementary and middle school students who fail Standards of Learning (SOL) tests by narrow margins or because of extenuating circumstances this spring to be retested before the end of the year – provided that school divisions first secure parental permission.
This morning, May 1, Virginia Department of Transportation crews will close the historic Aden Road bridge over Norfolk Southern Railroad. An inspection has revealed further deterioration of the 132-year-old truss, which was already scheduled for a nine-month closure to begin in July as part of an upcoming rehabilitation project.

Recently, an application was made to the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for the first farm brewery in Fairfax County, proposed to be located on approximately 20 acres of land, at the corner of Yates Ford and Clifton Road, according to Fairfax County Supervisor Pat Herrity.
