The Haymarket Town & Country Garden Club has been busy preparing for its annual Holiday Shoppe which will be held this coming Friday, Nov. 22 from 10 to 5 and Saturday, Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Prince William Fire & Rescue Station 15 Community Hall on US Rte. 15 in Haymarket.

Manassas Museum changes policies; entry free starting July 1

Beginning July 1, 2015, admission to the Manassas Museum is free. The Manassas Historic Resources Board, which oversees the Museum’s operations, originated the idea in an effort to allow residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy history for free. City Council approved the measure as well.

Rising sixth graders need Tdap before school starts under new Virginia rules

All students entering sixth grade must present proof that they have received the Tdap vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis before starting school this year. Virginia rules changed in 2014. Now, all sixth-grade students are included. There is no exemption for those under 11 years of age.

Va. Rte. 28 will be closed near Vint Hill Rd. Friday & Sunday nights for more storm sewer work

VA Rte. 28 (Nokesville Road) between Bristow Village Boulevard and Battalion Square will again be closed in both directions Friday and Sunday nights so that crews can continue storm sewer line work, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

June is National PTSD Awareness Month

U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution, co-sponsored by U.S. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA), designating June as National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month. The resolution also designates June 27 as National Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Awareness Day.

Ground to be broken June 29 in Nokesville on smart home for severely injured veteran

The "Building for America's Bravest" team of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation will break ground Monday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at 13460 Nokesville Road, Nokesville, on a customized new "smart home" for Retired USMC Cpl. Adam Devine, who was catastrophically injured in Afghanistan.

Columbia Gas of Virginia reminds homeowners, excavators and contractors to stay safe by calling 811 at least three working days before they begin to dig and pay attention to crews marking locations of underground utility lines. The national “Call Before You Dig” number, 811, connects Va. residents with the Virginia811 call center.
